Chaminade Today
Chaminade Today
The original mission statement of the Club, written into its constitution in 1903, continues to serve today as the best description of the Chaminade Club’s guiding principle:
“Its object shall be to provide opportunity for in-depth musical performance by its members, thereby promoting musical growth, evoking inspiration and providing association with those who have a common interest in music.”
There is an expectation in the Chaminade Club that its members will be both performers and listeners. The Club meets twice monthly from October through May. Two programs performed by members are presented at each meeting. Each Active Member is responsible for preparing and presenting one substantial program a year.
Active members are limited to thirty (30) and are divided among four performance categories: Keyboard, Instrumental, Voice, and Collaborative Piano. The limited membership allows each active member to have an assigned date to present his or her program. Dates are arranged by a rotation system under the supervision of the Club’s Program Committee Chair.
In addition to performances given by active members of the Club, a guest artist is invited by the Club to give a special Guest Day recital each year in January.

“Any person to be eligible for election to membership shall be resident of the Greater Jackson Metropolitan area, a trained musician in his/her field, and be otherwise qualified for membership.” Article IV a of the Constitution of the Chaminade Club
